Homework Policy - Mrs. Clapp's Second Grade.
If parents have any problems or questions about homework, they should, in the first instance, contact the child's class teacher. If they wish to make a formal complaint about the school homework policy or the way it is implemented; parents should put their complaint in writing as stated in the Complaints Procedure Policy.Math Homework 2nd grade students will practice their basic math facts (within 20) each night. Their goal is to be able to mentally add and subtract all of the basic facts by the end of the year. Each week we will send home game or activity to play at home to engage students in fun basic math fact activities.Homework is meant to provide further extension of concepts learned in class. Repetition is extremely important in learning spelling words and math facts. Second graders benefit from learning the study skills, responsibility, and organization that they will rely on in higher grade levels. Homework Tips.
Math: A Math homework page will be sent home Monday through Thursday. Some lessons take more than one day to complete so homework may not be sent home every day. Children are also expected to master addition and subtraction facts in second grade, so they would greatly benefit from regular practice at home.Each second grade student should have an AKS booklet. Page 4 of the booklet has a removable card for parents to sign and give to the classroom teacher. Your signature indicates that you have read the AKS and that you understand the Gwinnett Promotion Requirements.
Homework There is daily homework in 2nd grade. The expectation set by Eagle Ridge is that 2nd graders have at least 30 minutes per day. Additionally, your child is required to read for at least 20 minutes each day outside of the classroom (and be recorded on their reading log).
